Fujifilm just unveiled their new X100 at Photokina and that thing looks amazingly beautiful. Well, it has no interchangeable lenses and the lens is a prime. The sensor is APS-C with only 12mp. But I think, just like Ricoh, they have designed this camera for a certain market segment. I’m sure its price tag of US$1000 will even attract a lesser crowd BUT hey, isn’t this thing sexy? *drools*

Spinner 360° reminds me of the horizon panocam which I used to have back in my schooldays. But this does not take a panoramic photo. Instead the camera will spin 360° around its own axis and snaps a picture at the same time. Cool, isnt it?! But like the reason why I sold my Horizon panocam, I can’t afford to have this because it’s using film and developing film is NOT cheap. But it’s still cheaper than a Horizon (which cost me S$450 back then btw).

…the Price is set at 8925YEN equivalent to 89USD. Are they out of their minds? Yes I think they are.

Sonys new firmware will reduce the noise level at Low and High ISO.

Release expected for mid February!

I shoot a lot with high ISO (above picture shot at iso2000) and I’m ok with the output. There’s always noise reduction sw like noiseninja if there’s a need. Of course, a cleaner image would be good but retaining all the details is a MUST. I know some cameras produces softer images with reduced details and poor tonal gradation (these are no-nos to me, at least!) at the cost of their high level ISO performance.

As promised, here’s a video montage of our jalan2 (outing) trips using the digital Harinezumi. I also found out that my Harinezumi is hack’able via this blog, Circle Rectangle (p.s. beware if you are visiting this blog. Lots of poison inside!!! hehehe) .

If you have one, all you got to to is press the “OK” button and the shutter button together. At the same time, switch your camera on. If your Harinezumi’s version is 1.11 or 1.14 (like mine!), you will see the debug menu with the RGB settings. Just chg some numbers and voila! Your pictures will look like they’ve been xprocessed (well, almost) and you will also get a liveview on your screen which the Harinezumi doesn’t have in the first place. Sounds exciting? Apparently the hack’able version is quite hard to get and I was lucky enough to get it.

Don’t expect perfectly ‘clean’ images..well, they even look worse than the images from my mobile phones. I seldom pay attention to toys cameras but there’s something about its images that is attractive. the Harinezumi even takes videos (with no audio) which amazingly looks like 8mm film. I am in the midst of compiling the mini-vids into one so look out for it in my next entry.

As if choosing which camera to buy is not bad enuff. I’m sure new owners of the Pentax K-x will have a lonnnnnnnng time deciding what colours they want. hehehehe.

However I already sold gx100 to someone who will continue using this wonderful camera. Call me sentimental but I still miss it sometimes (although the feeling is disappearing cos I’m looking forward to get a replacement…hehe). Of course, I was ecstatic when I saw the video of ricoh GXR. It’s going to be expensive and I have a budget to get another good compact so I’ll give this a miss. But isn’t this revolutionary?

And how could I miss this?! Sigma’s DP1 will be in Singapore very soon and this is what I’ve been waiting before I even bought my ricoh gx100. The estimated cost of this baby is about $1.6k *I nearly choked on my cake when my fren msn’ed me this* in Singapore though. I’ll wait for prices to drop or is there anyone interested to get my gx100?
