Fight Creative Exhaustion

When you have to be creative on-demand in your day job, things can get very tiring. Adding new creative muscles will help you feel and think differently, especially if they’re in a totally different field. There are lots of benefits to taking up a new art:

1.Feed your need to be creative without worrying about making money.
2.Make creative connections and be exposed to new influences.
3.Take a break from working on a screen.
4.Learn things that’ll influence your day job.

On another note, I’ve stopped my projekt365. I have not been taking much pictures recently and I don’t like to ‘force’ myself to take a picture just for the sake of the project. Maybe next year.

I can’t resist taking a macro at the zoo…heh.

The funny thing was Aisyah didnt seem to be excited but her Ibu (thats me!) was superduper excited. The last time I visited the zoo was when I was single and that was like 7-8yrs back. At that time, I was into shooting wildlife and the next best thing to do that is at our Singapore Zoo.

Unfortunately i didnt take much pictures this time because I had to concentrate more on the girls lest they might wander off into the gorilla’s cage…*gulp!*. And the husband would be complaining if I took too much time taking pictures…hehe. I didn’t bring my dslr with my lenses but I brought my trusty gxr although I wish it has a longer zoom. 50mm is just not enuff!

Yes, I have to resort to sneaking into the loo to do my errm, business. :p

Paya Lebar MRT. Snapped this pix before I was approached by the staff and told not to take any pix.

As crazy as it sounds, I went to Paya Lebar just to get putupirings from the famous putupiring shop at Haig Road.

Putupiring!

Putu Piring is essentially the Malay version of Kueh Tutu. According to the friendly uncle at the stall, this dessert has its origins in India. The Malay version uses gula melaka for the filling and is served with grated coconut while the Chinese version (i.e. Kueh Tutu) contains grated coconut or peanut filling and is generally smaller in size.

A couple of pictures from my morning walk. I’m always drawn to the long morning shadows.

And she‘s finally out! I got Tuty’s sms at about 0530 last Friday and she gave birth to Maiya Ayunie by afternoon. Since Aisyah had just gone back from school, I brought along my troop to visit her the next day. It was a momentous event as my other good frens, Isz (and her mum + bro) + Yanni (and her hb, Azmi) were there too. It’s been quite a looooong time since we met and i was just too excited to meet them.

I was ‘cleaning up’ my harddisk when I saw this batch of photos I took in 2004 with my Minolta Dimage 5. The Dimage 5 was my first ‘real’ camera back then. It’s only a 3mp camera but it served me well till I decided to sell it away. Ok, these photos were taken in the old Changi Hospital. This is one of Singapore’s ‘famous’ place for photography but it has its own share of freaky stories revolving around it. I shan’t tell any freaky stories here cos you can google it yourself. heh.

Built in 1930′s, the Old Changi Hospital (OCH) has quite a long and rich history. OCH is a typical replica of buildings built by British Colonial architects in the early 20′s. Surprisingly OCH was not meant to be a hospital when it was first built. The British was planning to have a heavily guarded military location in the east of Singapore.

We were fortunate we didn’t encounter anything of the 3rd kind during the photography outing, if you know what I mean. However we were chased by a couple of dogs who were guarding that place and well, my friend and I were close to being bitten. We managed to hide inside this really dark, freaky room while the boys distracted those dogs and we were safe. We didn’t stay long in that place, probably about an hour. I guess all of us wanted to leave before sunset and get the hell out of there fast.
