We were very honoured to have been photographed by the talented NorZamaria of Pixelated Theory, during Liza’s birthday bash 2 months back.

Photography is a passion for her, I gather, and from her works, I could see why she’s special. She is immersed in her surroundings, and I just love the way she captures the moments, simple as they may seem, and then translating them into something intriguing, catching one by surprise, and leaving one wondering…”Now why hadnt I noticed THAT before?!”

And just when I thought she’s more of a ‘moment’ photographer, she surprised me with her ability to document still art works…like our dessert isle! Love the angles!

So as much as she would love to have more opportunities to document Mariah & Sham’s works, we’d love to, just as much if not more, have the opportunity to be documented by her! Because we would love to have her capturing those precious moments. Cos that is what Mariah & Sham is all about…sharing the beautiful things in life.

Ok, I have a confession. I fell in love with this Kellymoore‘s b-hobo bag at first sight and still in love. I don’t think it’s strong enought to withstand the weight of the usual camera stuff I carry but Eidul’fitri is coming and well, it’s good enough to carry my ricoh gxr and diapers+the girls’ snacks. hehe.

I’m no apple fangirl. Of course, you can take such pictures with any android or smartphones. But look at what Lee Morris has done. Amazing work! All you need are a gorgeous model, a group of hair/makeup artist, a good knowledge of your lighting and really mad editing/retouching skills to get such photos. 

And I’m not saying that all photographers should use their iphone for their assignment. It’s ridiculous isn’t it? Your client paid so much for you to use your iphone to take his/her wedding?

But that’s NOT the point of this post.

Obviously there was a lot that went into this shoot including a professional model, hair and makeup, a studio, lighting, and a retoucher. We may create another video in the future where we shoot with only natural light but this video is simply about the camera. There are so many photographers who are obsessed with noise, sharpness, color, dynamic range, megapixels, chromatic aberration, moire, distortion, etc. So many photographers get wrapped up in the technical side that they forget how to take compelling images. This video is for them.”

From Lee Morris Responds To The iPhone Fashion Shoot

Beautiful words and photographs at Days With My Father by Phillip Toledano. Very heartbreaking. I remember a fellow SH07 member did something like this for her grandmother; something different from her usual conceptual style. As for me, I did a documentary on the girls in my life (before Sarah comes along); my mother and Aisyah. I needed to find the connections between them. My mother used to babysit Aisyah when I worked fulltime a few years back and they have a rather close relationship.

So what have I been doing? Apart from being a human ‘cow’, changing poo-filled diapers and entertaining Aisyah, I have been stealing time to reply emails and updating pixelatedtheory.com.

Confinement sounds boring but well, time flies really fast with 2 kids now. Speaking of which, Sarah is one month old today…hoorah! My first assignment of 2009 will start in February and yes, I can’t wait to start taking pictures again although I think I may have clicked a zillion times of my kids now. heh.

It was definitely a challenge doing the shoot yesterday. In the studio, there are 4 walls for my subjects but it’s a different thing when you’re doing a shoot outside with no boundaries. Nevertheless I enjoyed my evening yesterday with these beautiful people though I really need to get fitter to chase lil boys like Aaryam and Adam. Like I told Rida, “Sebab tak exercise sejak zaman skola…!”. Here’s one favourite shot.
